April Dog Walking Challenge

Join our April 2022 Dog Walking Challenge and walk 26 miles with your furry friend, while raising funds for people living with dementia and their carers

This is a virtual challenge that you can complete anywhere, in your own time and at your own pace. Walk the equivalent of a marathon (26 miles) over the month of April.

Every step you take and every pound you raise with your furry companion will help to ensure that no one will have to face dementia alone.

What do you need to do?

  • Set up your JustGiving page or Facebook fundraiser and tell the world about your amazing challenge
  • Join our April Dog Walking Challenge Facebook group

It’s as simple as that! Join our community of virtual fundraisers today and support each other throughout the challenge. You can post updates on your challenge on our Facebook group and ask fellow participants for advice. Don’t forget to tag us in your cute photos!

Where and how can I complete my miles?

You can complete your miles wherever you like, however you like! Just make sure to record your walks and keep your sponsors updated with your progress.

How do I record how many miles I have walked?

You can track your distance and link it to your JustGiving page via the Strava app. This will ensure your mileage is automatically recorded and added to your page. You are also able to manually add the mileage to your page later.

Can I start early or late?

Of course! April is when our challenge is at its most active and the majority of people are likely to take part, but you can take part whenever is convenient for you. The more challenge participants we have, the more we can support families facing dementia.

Can I do more or less than 26 miles?

Yes of course! This is your challenge, so it’s up to you and your furry pal how you do it. Just be clear with your supporters how far you are intending to go and keep them regularly updated with your progress.

Can I take part in Take the Lead as a member of a team?

Yes, absolutely! Once you have signed up and created your personal JustGiving page, you can then create a JustGiving team page too. When your friends, family or colleagues sign up to take part in Take The Lead, they can join your team during the registration process.

Can I raise money without setting up an online fundraising page?

You certainly can. You can download a sponsorship form or pick one up from our Info Desk.
