Vacancy: Freelance Reminiscence Arts Practitioner (Reminiscence Arts in Day Care 2016)

Age Exchange has been awarded £468,000 by The Big Lottery Fund as part of The Reaching Communities Programme. The award over three years will enable Age Exchange to provide two day care services, alongside one to one support at home, for people with dementia and their family carer for people living in the London Boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich, and Southwark. The new Reminiscence Arts in Day Care service will commence in November 2016.

Age Exchange is seeking to recruit a team of freelance Reminiscence Arts Practitioners to deliver the programme. The key focus of the programme is the value of reminiscence arts practice in enhancing well-being, social engagement, and the relationship between participants with dementia and their family carer. To apply you will need a professional arts background with an experience of delivering participatory arts. Successful applicants will be provided with specialist training in reminiscence arts in dementia care.
Reminiscence Arts in Day Care is a development of the highly innovative RADIQL™ programme tested by Age Exchange in care homes in Southwark and Lambeth between 2012-2015. The RADIQL™ programme proved that person centred Reminiscence Arts had a measurable impact on the well-being and behaviour of residents with a diagnosis of dementia who took part. The resulting evaluation by Royal Holloway University of London, and Simetrica, found that the well-being of participants with dementia increased by 42% and positive behaviour by 25%.
