1 Computing for beginners – 5 weeks

Designed for complete newcomers to computing, this beginners’ course will introduce you to mouse and keyboard skills, as well as offering a taster in word processing, Internet and email.
Donation £35, plus recommended course book (optional).

2 Using Internet and email – 6 weeks

Learn how to access and navigate websites, search for information that interests you. Use Internet security programs to stay safe online. Enhance your shopping experience by using online reviews and price comparison websites. Send and receive emails. Learners should have some experience of using a mouse and keyboard.

3 Bring your own laptop – 6 weeks

Bring your own laptop to Age Exchange and learn how to use its tools, features and apps. Battery and power management. Sound control. Security measures to protect your laptop. Manage and back up your data. Browse the email and stay safe online. Use iPlayer and catch-up for TV and radio.

4 Bring your own iPad – 5 weeks

Learn how to use your iPad’s tools, features and apps.  Browse the Internet.  Access music, iBooks and podcasts.  Use email and contacts. Organise your life by keeping an electronic diary. Take and view photos and videos. Use iPlayer and catch-up for TV and radio. Use iCloud’s file storage facilities. Transfer photos and other files between your iPad and your PC.

5 Computer housekeeping: essential file management and settings control

Learn how to manage and backup your files. Maintain computer security. Use essential settings to access options and information on your computer. Stay safe online.

6 Individual support

For people whose computer training needs cannot be met within the normal course programme, some individual support may be available.
