Our Trainers

Bernie Arigho M.Sc. (Gerontology), B.A., Cert.Ed., F.R.S.A
Bernie has a background in health and social care, community theatre and education.  He has specialised in reminiscence work since 1986, and has co-ordinated and supervised over 300 projects in care settings.  Currently freelance reminiscence consultant, Bernie divides his time between the UK and Victoria, Australia, where his expertise is available to many other countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and New Zealand. 

David Savill Dip(Acting) M.A. (Performing Arts), F.R.S.A.
Artistic Director
David graduated from the London Drama Centre in 1988. He has many years' experience as a director, teacher and writer in the fields of theatre and reminiscence arts. He is responsible for intergenerational arts and education projects at Age Exchange, as well as developmental reminiscence arts projects in partnership with other organisations. He has lectured on his work at universities and drama schools around the country.

Malcolm Jones M.A. (Text and Performance) PGCE
Arts and Education Officer
Malcolm has worked on Reminiscence Theatre projects with Age Exchange since 2000. He has set up community theatre projects in Lewisham, Greenwich and Richmond and also co-developed a T.I.E project in conjunction with Shelter. He was Workshop and Events Manager at the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden for 10 years, where he was responsible for a wide range of theatre workshops for schools and the general public and interviewed many leading British actors and directors for the Museum’s Theatre Video Archive. Malcolm has lectured at RADA, Mountview, The Actors Centre and Rose Bruford College and project manages West End Workshops for Ambassador Theatre Group. He has appeared on many TV and radio programmes speaking on theatre history from The Big Breakfast to BBC News. He also runs Intimate Exchanges Theatre Company, which specialises in dramatised readings and lectures.

Lindsay Royan B.A. (Psych/Phil), Dip.Dth., C.Clin. Psych.
Specialist in Dementia Care
Lindsay is a clinical psychologist with twenty-six years experience of working in the care of older people. She now specialises in dementia care, primarily with older people but also younger people and people with learning disabilities. She is a qualified drama therapist with an interest in the use of all creative therapies in reminiscence work. She has been involved in several national initiatives on developing services for older people.

Ivan Riches MA (Fine Art)
Ivan is a film director/producer and visual artist.
He has exhibited at Festival Hall – London, ICA - London, South London Arts Gallery – London, Oxo Tower Gallery - London,  Battersea Arts Centre – London, Savoy Hotel – London, Woodlands Gallery – London, BCA Gallery - Bedford
Ivan has directed and produced documentary, campaign, information, drama and arts films: on television; ‘Sex and Independence’, ‘Beasts & Beauties’ and ‘Boredom to Benidorm’ on BBC 2, in film theatres; ‘Digging for Gold’, ‘A Healthy Risk’, Positive Ageing’, ‘Warming Winter’, ‘Are We In Your Way?’ and ‘Stories of Youth’ at the BFI Southbank - National Film Theatre and ‘Exposure’ at the Institute of Contemporary Art, ‘Anti-Stigma’ & ‘Stress and Grief in Tenerife’ at Cineworld (Wood Green Film Festival). ‘Warming Winter’ was also played at City Hall. He has recently become an associate producer with Channel 4 and has worked with many organisations in the public & private sectors including; Age Concern, Age Exchange, BBC Disability Programmes Unit, British Film Institute, BT, Corus, G E Healthcare, Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Mayor of London, Masterfoods (Mars), Mind, The Royal College of Psychiatrists & Westminster Council.

Ivan has lectured at BFI Southbank, Victoria & Albert Museum, University of Central England, Gloucestershire College of Art and Technology, Limerick College of Art & Design,  North Herts College, MENCAP, Age Concern London, Action Space and SHAPE.
 
His publications include ‘How to do photography’ for MENCAP – a publication funded by the Arts Council and A Healthy Risk’, News letter, Centre for Intergenerational Practice, Beth Johnson Foundation.
