NEW MEMBERS WELCOME FOR NEW PROJECTS

Age Exchange’s Youth Theatre is looking to recruit new members for two new projects this spring. We are looking for young people aged 12 – 17 years old who would be interested in working in the area of intergenerational reminiscence theatre.

Rehearsals will take place on Saturday mornings 10.30am – 12.30pm.

The first production will begin rehearsals on Saturday 28 February 2009 for mid April production. This is sponsored by Unity Theatre and will be called Politics and Bread and Butter and will explore the fascinating life of one of our volunteers Miriam McLeod.

From April until July we will be preparing an Arts Council & Lewisham Council funded production called Elders in Our Care based on memories and stories of caring for older people over the past 60 years. This will be production will end in performances at a major theatre in South London.

The work will involve performing memories of older people with older actors in a series of improvised rehearsals.

Age Exchange’s Youth Theatre is free to enthusiastic and committed young people. It offers training in performance skills and an opportunity to experience a unique form of theatre where younger and older people work together to create a new piece of theatre.
