Age Exchange Windrush Film to Premiere at The Bridge, Waterloo During Black History Month

Thursday 8 October | The Bridge at Waterloo | London

Age Exchange is proud to present the premiere screening of its new Windrush Project Film on Thursday 8 October at The Bridge, Waterloo, marking Black History Month with a powerful celebration of community, heritage, resilience, and storytelling.

The film brings together the voices and lived experiences of members of the Windrush Generation and their families, capturing personal stories of migration, identity, family, contribution, and belonging. Through a series of moving interviews and reflections, the project preserves memories that form an important part of Britain’s social and cultural history.

Produced by Age Exchange, the film highlights the experiences of local people whose stories help deepen understanding of the Windrush legacy and the significant contribution Caribbean communities have made to life in the UK.

The screening event will bring together participants, community members, supporters, local organisations, and guests to celebrate the completion of the project and the individuals who generously shared their stories.

Yvonne Roye, Operations Manager at Age Exchange, said:

“This project has been a privilege to be part of. We have heard remarkable stories of courage, sacrifice, determination and hope. It is important that these stories are recorded and shared so that future generations can understand the experiences and contributions of the Windrush Generation. We are delighted to showcase the film during Black History Month and celebrate everyone who made the project possible.”

The Windrush Project reflects Age Exchange’s long-standing commitment to using reminiscence, creativity, and storytelling to bring communities together and preserve important histories.

The evening will include the film screening, participant recognition, guest speakers and an opportunity for attendees to reflect on the stories featured in the production.
