Our Specialisms

From empowering communities and supporting families to embracing creative approaches and innovation, our charity is dedicated to making a meaningful difference every day.

At Age Exchange, we craft high-quality programmes that harness the power of arts, culture, and creativity to achieve life-changing outcomes. Whether it’s enabling people to live well with dementia or equipping those with learning disabilities with essential life and employability skills, we employ creative engagement techniques to inspire progress in every person’s journey. Our work is often showcased in high-profile and exciting venues, using art to champion the voices of the people we support and instilling a real sense of pride in those involved.
We have a unique ability to promote and nurture wellbeing through sensory engagement. By taking a creative approach, we thoughtfully design programmes and interventions that help people lead happier and healthier lives. Our programmes frequently draw upon the senses, and we specialise in supporting individuals with complex care needs. Our team of experts includes specialists in Occupational Therapy, Learning Disabilities, Autism and Dementia.
Reminiscence Arts is Age Exchange’s unique approach to dementia intervention. At the heart of this practice is a focus on empowering individuals, enabling them to share their reminiscences through various art forms and to interact creatively and positively with others. Our distinctive approach has an incredible impact on people’s quality of life, helping them rediscover their voice, build confidence and increase self-esteem.
We specialise in fostering meaningful connections between different generations, helping people find common ground and establish new relationships within their communities. In social care, individuals from different age groups often support each other. Through our innovative approach, we equip carers with the tools and person-centred techniques needed to uncover commonalities, shared interests and shared histories, bringing generations together.
We excel at unlocking the potential within organisations to deliver creative engagement. Our track record includes collaborations with some of the UK’s most dynamic cultural and sporting associations, supporting them in designing ways to weave their stories and influence to change lives. From renowned museums to prestigious universities, we’ve consulted with major institutions, empowering them with the skills and vision to create lasting social impact. Our expertise and experience make us sought-after collaborators for many projects.
Locally, our Blackheath hub is the heart of its community, serving as a vibrant cultural and voluntary epicentre. Our mission is to bridge the gap between generations and bring organisations together by hosting a range of experiences that foster connections and drive positive change. We use our platform to transform lives, whether by offering people their first employment opportunities or delivering programmes that support those affected by the cost-of-living crisis. Our strategic work extends beyond our hub’s walls, as we frequently assist organisations in designing their own community development strategies for older people, those living with dementia, and individuals with learning disabilities.
As a person-centred organisation focused on defining and achieving outcomes, we create once-in-a-lifetime experiences and exceptional programmes that support people in growing their independence, fulfilling their potential, and achieving their dreams.
With over four decades of experience, we excel in designing diverse programmes that address community needs, bring people together, raise awareness of societal issues, and enable individuals to flourish. From major theatre productions and documentary-based initiatives to exploring how major sporting events can develop the creative talents of people with learning disabilities, we are skilled at designing unique solutions that leave a lasting impact.
