Our Impact

Our History
Established 40 years ago as the UK’s first organisation dedicated to reminiscence and intergenerational arts.
In 2018, we became the only arts charity embedded within a social care provider, when we joined forces with Community Integrated Care.
RADIQL™ Model
Our RADIQL™ model has been shown to improve the well-being of people with dementia by 42% and increase positive behaviour by 25%. Group sessions significantly boost quality of life, with benefits seen within the first 50 minutes and continuing to grow over a 24-week period.
This research, involving over 200 participants, was funded by Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity.
- 90% of family carers report improved well-being and companionship.
- 100% of people with dementia report improved well-being and companionship.

Local Blackheath Hub
Our community hub has more than 180,000 visitors, annually. We proudly deliver more than 30,000 hours of arts, creative and social activity every year.
The hub is supported by more than 115 dedicated volunteers who contribute over 10,000 hours annually.
Acclaimed Services
Age Exchange has received many awards and accolades during our history. This includes being awarded a Queens Award for Voluntary Service – the equivalent of an organisational MBE, and being shortlisted at the Guardian Charity Awards.
We proudly collected the Best Age-Outreach honour at the Fantastic for Families awards 2022 and were recognised with a HSJ Achievement Awards commendation in 2025.
Our joint work with Community Integrated Care has received several national accolades, including being named as ‘Care Innovators of the Year’ for Scotland in 2024.

National Partnerships & Programmes
We support thousands of people through high-impact arts, social and creative programmes.
This has seen us collaborate with leading organisations, including universities, NHS trusts, museums, galleries, and cultural centres. With Community Integrated Care we have supported the social impact ambitions of major organisations including UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, World Para Swimming Championships and British Cycling.
