The National Citizens Service walk for AE, makeover Number 11 in style

If you were at the Exchange on Monday and Tuesday, there’s a good chance you noticed our centre being treated to a little revamp, courtesy of a group of rather lovely millennials. We’ve the National Citizens Service to credit for gracing us with the programme, a government-funded initiative for 15-17 year olds to build “confidence and independence…and build a stronger and more cohesive society” which they certainly delivered.
The devoted team who’d recently met on an outdoor teambuilding endeavour, saw through a sponsored walk for our intergenerational charity, and the match was perfect. On arrival, one lively sub-group repainted part of the Bakehouse (we’ve a lovely avocado WC now), whilst others came up with sophisticated marketing strategies, did some archiving, arranged a raffle and finally promoted, designed, and put on ‘The Great Exhibition’, showcasing reminiscence items from the Archive.
So thanks NCS, not just for your enthusiasm, hard work and the general boost we enjoyed – but the £200+ you raised for Age Exchange!
