Dementia

Age Exchange increasingly works with people with dementia and their carers, helping them to live well with their condition.

Dementia is caused when the brain is damaged by diseases, such as Alzheimer’s. Most people will know dementia as memory loss, but it can include many other symptoms which affect mobility, language, reasoning, mood, and behaviour.

Everyone’s experience of dementia is unique; there is no set pattern as to how the disease will progress, which is why at Age Exchange we take a person-centred approach to care, working with each person as the unique individual they are.
