Universities and Colleges Lecture Programme

Each year Age Exchange lectures at universities and colleges around the country. Universities have approached the charity in order that it shares its expertise in reminiscence arts and health with graduates and undergraduates from diverse academic disciplines. Lectures, which are designed to meet individual criteria for specific courses have included the following themes:

  • An exploration of the value of reminiscence in devising and scripting new professional and community productions. The lecture underlines the importance of good practice and training in reminiscence work in order to enable artists to engage in the detailed process based approach to reminiscence in performance.

  • The application of reminiscence work to nursing theory and practice, clinical psychology, gerontology and life course studies.

  • Developing intergenerational and cross cultural programmes in order to promote active citizenship and community regeneration.

  • Providing reminiscence training to universities with specialist volunteer programmes for undergraduates.
