The value of skilled Reminiscence Work
Skilled reminiscence work helps to generate stimulating and enjoyable creative activities. It enables people to make rewarding social contacts with people of different ages and ethnic backgrounds, and it enriches personal and professional work satisfaction for a wide range of carers, social and community workers, teachers and artists.

Training at the Reminiscence Centre
The courses have been designed to meet the needs of growing numbers of people who see the relevance and benefits of reminiscence skills for their work. The courses are held at the Age Exchange Reminiscence Centre, visited by about 25,000 people each year.

Professionals from all over the United Kingdom, Europe and beyond participate in these courses, returning to their workplaces with a host of new practical ideas. Our team of experienced and professionally qualified trainers aim to help course participants to learn new skills to enhance the valuable work which they are already doing.

In-House Reminiscence Training
Age Exchange can deliver a reminiscence training course at your own training venue for your team of workers. The course contents are as indicated in the Reminiscence Centre training brochure, or we can tailor a course specifically to your group's training needs.

As well as the courses listed in the Reminiscence Centre course schedule, Age Exchange has an additional programme of specialised courses that can be delivered in-house. For example:
  • Intergenerational Reminiscence
  • Reminiscence and Ethnic Elders
  • Making Theatre from Memories
  • Reminiscence and Learning Disabilities
  • Reminiscence and Family Carers of People with Dementia
On agreeing the type of course required, Age Exchange will provide a suitably experienced and qualified trainer to deliver the course. The fee for in house training is £600 a day plus travel and accommodation expenses for the trainer. Shorter workshops can also be arranged at different rates. The maximum size for the training group is 16.
